{"id":2611,"date":"2018-09-09T10:55:25","date_gmt":"2018-09-09T15:55:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ccabaseballclub.org\/?page_id=2611"},"modified":"2020-08-25T12:39:28","modified_gmt":"2020-08-25T17:39:28","slug":"april-2-2018","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/clippersbaseballclub.org\/?page_id=2611","title":{"rendered":"April 2, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CLIPPERS BASEBALL CLUB MEETING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, April 2, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Opening:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clipper Baseball Club meeting was held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the library in Clear Creek Amana High School in Tiffin, IA at 6:19pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Club Members Present: Adam Henderson (President), Darci Roehler (Director of Operations and Interim Treasurer), Golda Monohon (Secretary), Wade Good (Alternate), and Sara Morlan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CCA Baseball Club Board Openings:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reggie Meade resigned as CCABC board treasurer.\u00a0 Darci will resume his responsibilities until a new treasurer is voted in.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Pfeiffer (8U white head coach) has been added to the board as an alternate, but was unable to attend today\u2019s meeting due to 8U practice.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Clipper Classic Tournament:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The following age groups still have openings for the tournament:<\/p>\n<p>14U \u2013 full (4 teams total)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10U \u2013 3 spots open<\/p>\n<p>13U \u2013 3 spots open\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9U \u2013 2 spots open<\/p>\n<p>12U \u2013 4 spots open\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8U \u2013 2 spots open<\/p>\n<p>11U \u2013 2 spots open<\/p>\n<p>Adam will contact the PST league to see if they turned away any teams from their tournament that we can invite to the Clipper Classic.\u00a0 Darci will send an email to the coaches with the number of open spots in their age group to see if they know of any teams that are looking for a tournament to play in.<\/p>\n<p>Jay Robertson contacted Adam regarding teams registered for the 11U AAA bracket.\u00a0 There were no teams registered other than CCA Clippers 11U Blue.\u00a0 Adam provided Jay with two options: play in the PST tournament that weekend or play up into 12U for the Clipper Classic tournament.\u00a0 Jay chose to have the 11U Blue team play up to 12U for the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The mounds have been rented from Rick Smejkal at Eastern Iowa Sports in Cedar Rapids.\u00a0 The mounds will be dropped off on the outside of the shed on Friday at Penn Meadows Park.\u00a0 They will pick up the mounds on Sunday or Monday from the same location.<\/p>\n<p>The club needs to rent golf carts or a gator to move mounds, equipment, etc. during the tournament.\u00a0 Last year the golf carts were rented at the last minute from Mount Vernon.<\/p>\n<p>The Neuzil\u2019s no longer have their trailer.\u00a0 Adam will contact Brian Motley with the City of North Liberty to get a quote for concession stand rental.\u00a0 The benefits to renting the concession stand include storage for trophies, refrigerators to store soda\/water, no generator to maintain, no U-Haul to rent, no coolers to move around and fill with ice, etc. Golda will contact Darlene Smith from the Optimist Club to see if they would be interested in running the concession stand.<\/p>\n<p>Darci to contact the Hy-Vee on 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup> Ave. or Waterfront.\u00a0 Last year the meat was supplied by Hy-Vee in Coralville.\u00a0 We ran out of meat and Hy-Vee charged more for labor than anticipated.\u00a0 This year we may possibly remove brats from the menu to keep things simple (offering hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken on the menu).\u00a0 Concession stand items will be purchased from Costco the Friday before the tournament.\u00a0 Sara, Darci, and Wade all have Costco memberships. The conference track meet in Williamsburg is on Friday, May 4<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> and usually runs late.\u00a0 This will affect the Morlans and Darci as we prep for the tournament the day before.\u00a0 Golda will update the concession stand item spreadsheet and provide it to Darci to budget for this year.\u00a0 Golda will contact Kona Ice to invite them to the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Darci will set up a Sign-Up Genius for field maintenance.\u00a0 Lindsay Nash had set this up last year for the club.\u00a0 Telling the teams that field maintenance participation is required for state tournament funds seems to be an empty threat.\u00a0 The board will provide a list of the parents assigned to field maintenance to each of the coaches for accountability.<\/p>\n<p>The City of North Liberty will rake the fields in the morning.\u00a0 The 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup> shift of parents to help chalk, set bases, and set mounds should arrive at 6:15am on Saturday and 7am on Sunday.\u00a0 The first games will begin at 8am.\u00a0 Jonas Zimmerman does all the prep work at the fields in Tiffin.\u00a0 CCABC will only need to take care of field maintenance between games in Tiffin.\u00a0 The game times tentatively will be at 8am, 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>Bret Breard will be the head of umpires for the tournament again this year.\u00a0 He will take care of umpire communication and organization.<\/p>\n<p>Adam will contact Harry\u2019s on the Coralville strip to purchase trophies.\u00a0 He would like to choose a simple design this year which will help keep costs down.\u00a0 There will be one bracket this year; gold bracket.\u00a0 There will not be MVP awards\/medals.\u00a0 The trophies will be awarded for 1<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup> and 2<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">nd<\/span><\/sup> place in each age group.<\/p>\n<p>Sign in tables will be manned by Darci and Sara in Tiffin.\u00a0 Golda will take care of the table in North Liberty.<\/p>\n<p>Darci has the tournament binders and pitching cards.\u00a0 She will need to locate them.\u00a0 If more pitching cards need to be printed, Alphagraphics can be contacted for more.\u00a0 Trent DeKoter has the 14U binder.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong><u>2018 Sponsorships:<\/u><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Mark Hovey now has the scholarship applications at the CCA High School.\u00a0 Students have the option to turn in the application to Mr. Hovey or mail them to the CCA Baseball Club P.O. Box.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong><u>Team Pictures:<\/u><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>All team pictures have been scheduled with KS Photography.\u00a0 14U will be cancelling their team pictures.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Helmets:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parents can drop off helmets at Premier Automotive to be painted.\u00a0 Premier Automotive will send an invoice to CCA Baseball Club.\u00a0 The board will then collect money from parents to cover the cost of helmet painting.<\/p>\n<p>Niki Frese from Ironside Apparel will provide the \u201cC\u201d decals for the front of the helmets, but no numbers.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Pizza Ranch Fundraiser:<\/strong><\/u><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Darci and Adam have not heard back from Pizza Ranch regarding the funds that were raised during the CCA Baseball Club fundraiser in February.\u00a0 Darci will contact them to follow up.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>12U Team Update:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Mitchel Smyka will be rejoining the 12U roster.\u00a0 After tryouts in August the family thought they would be moving from the area.\u00a0 Their move will now occur later than originally anticipated so Mitchell will be able to finish out the season with the team.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Payments:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are still families that need to submit their second payment to the CCA Baseball Club.\u00a0 Adam will send a notification to those families.\u00a0 If the second payment is not received, the player will be removed from the roster.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Outdoor Practices:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jonas Zimmerman is not opening the Tiffin fields yet due to the recent snowy weather.\u00a0 Currently reservations for gym practices for 12U and 14U have been extended for 3 more weeks.\u00a0 If a team is not going to use these practice times, the club will not be charged if the teams cancel the reservations in advance.\u00a0 Darci will contact Brian Baxter to see if he would like to extend 13U gym practices for the 9<sup>th<\/sup> and 16<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Jay Robertson chose not to extend gym practices for the 11U Blue.\u00a0 Adam will contact Gabe Bakker to see if he would like to extend for the 10U. \u00a011U White is currently practicing outdoors in the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Action Items:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Darci\n<ul>\n<li>Email coaches with # of spots open in their age group at the tournament<\/li>\n<li>Contact Hy-Vee to set up catering for the Clipper Classic<\/li>\n<li>Contact Pizza Ranch regarding fundraiser in February<\/li>\n<li>Set up Sign-up Genius for Field Maintenance during the Clipper Classic<\/li>\n<li>Locate tournament binders and pitching cards<\/li>\n<li>Contact Brian Baxter to extend gym practices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Adam\n<ul>\n<li>Send email to families that have not submitted their 2<sup>nd<\/sup> payment<\/li>\n<li>Contact Niki Frese regarding uniform fittings and scheduling<\/li>\n<li>Contact Harry\u2019s regarding trophies for the tournament<\/li>\n<li>Contact Brian Motley for concession stand quote<\/li>\n<li>Contact PST league regarding teams that might be able to play in the Clipper Classic<\/li>\n<li>Contact Gabe Bakker to see if he would like to extend gym practices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Golda\n<ul>\n<li>Contact Darlene Smith with the Optimist Club regarding manning the concession stand<\/li>\n<li>Contact Kona Ice to invite them to the Clipper Classic<\/li>\n<li>Update concession stand item spreadsheet from last year to plan for this year\u2019s purchase<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Adjournment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meeting was adjourned at 7:17pm by Adam Henderson.\u00a0 The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 18<sup>th<\/sup> at 6pm at the CCA High School Library. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minutes submitted by: Golda Monohon, Secretary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CLIPPERS BASEBALL CLUB MEETING Monday, April 2, 2018 Opening: Clipper Baseball Club meeting was held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the library in Clear Creek Amana High School in Tiffin, IA at 6:19pm.
