CLIPPERS BASEBALL CLUB BOARD MEETING
Monday, October 12, 2020
Opening: Clippers Baseball Club Board Meeting was held Monday, October 12, 2020 remotely at 6:00pm.
Board Members Present: Nick Pfeiffer (President), Kelly Weber (Treasurer), Bridgette Schares, Jamie Etscheidt
- Open Discussion from Membership:
- The Clippers Baseball Club needs to recruit additional Board Members. Nick Pfeiffer is trying to recruit at least one parent from each team and will do so in a follow-up email after the meeting.
- Update on Outstanding Action Items:
- Jeremiah and Sara Herdliska will organize the Clippers Baseball Club garage sale.
- Update: The garage sale date is scheduled for Sunday, October 18 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The club was unable to secure a suitable indoor location, so the Herdliska’s will host the garage sale at their house. If there is inclement weather the event will be postponed to a future date TBD. Donations will be accepted at Herdliska’s and Pfeiffer’s.
- Update: The club still needs more items donated for the garage sale on 10/18. The Herdliska’s need help setting up at 7am if folks can be there to help. Bring folding tables if you have them and continue to help get the word out.
- Bridgette Schares will approach Scratch Cupcakes for a cupcake fundraising sale.
- Update: Bridgette Schares scheduled the Scratch Cupcakes fundraiser for June 2021.
- Jeremiah and Sara Herdliska will organize the Clippers Baseball Club garage sale.
- 2021 Registration and Team Updates:
- Clipper Club teams that could use more players:
- 7U Blue – 11 committed and paid
- 8U Blue – 11 committed and paid
- 8U White – 11 committed and paid
- 9U Blue – 10 committed and 8 paid
- 10U Blue – 11 committed and paid
- 10U White – 11 committed and 10 paid
- 11U Blue – 12 committed and paid
- 11U White – 9 committed (Club has not asked for payment yet)
- 13U Blue – 12 committed and paid
- 13U White – Players from Liberty are no longer interested in creating a joint Liberty/Clippers team. Nick Pfeiffer will let the four Clipper families know that we are unable to establish a team for them.
- Clipper Club teams that could use more players:
- Logo/Apparel/Uniform Discussion:
- Nick Pfeiffer and Kelly Weber met with Ironside on 10/7. Weber will email the Board ideas and pricing when Ironside is able to provide this information.
- Uniforms will be the same basic gray pants, there will be two tops: 1) a two-button top and, 2) a t-shirt or V-neck top. The hat will be lighter than hats from previous seasons.
- There will be a variety of items available at the online apparel site, and it will be up in time to receive items for the holidays.
- Fundraising:
- The Board discussed doing a lasagna (or similar) fundraiser.
- Last year the Clippers Softball Club raised $10K selling frozen lasagnas. Kelly Weber will research the feasibility of the Clippers Baseball Club doing a similar fundraiser.
- Sponsorships:
- No updates.
- Treasurer’s Report:
- The latest monthly Clippers Baseball Club checking account statement from 9/30 has a balance of $15,691.92.
- Hills Bank sent the Clippers Baseball Club final confirmation that the balance was paid, and the account is officially closed.
- Decisions:
- DECISION (10/14/19): The CCASD, insurance dues, and mound rental fees are the top debt priorities: $500 owed to CCASD, $793.10 owed for insurance dues, and $500 owed for mound rental fees.
- DECISION (10/14/19): There is $479 left after CCASD, insurance dues, and mound rental fees are paid.Of the remaining funds raised $100 will go to Tiffin Parks & Rec, and $350 will go to North Liberty Parks & Rec.
- DECISION (11/11/19): The Clippers Club Board voted in favor of making the Clipper Classic a one-day USSSA sanctioned tournament.
- DECISION (12/9/19): $621.72 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $300 to the City of North Liberty, and $300 to the City of Tiffin.
- DECISION (2/10/20): $899.23 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $450 to the City of North Liberty, and $450 to the City of Tiffin.
- DECISION (3/9/20): $705.54 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $610 to the City of Tiffin, and $100 (rounded up) to the City of North Liberty.
- DECISION (4/13/20): The Clippers Baseball Club Board will split the $1,000 grant money evenly among the 6 club teams. Each team may be reimbursed up to $166.67 for equipment purchased between 1/1/20 – 5/31/20.
- DECISION (4/13/20): $187.23 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $180 (rounded down) to city of North Liberty.
- DECISION (6/8/20): $674.25 has been raised to repay debts ($675 rounded up). The club will pay $500 to the Clippers Baseball Club Scholarship debt and $175 to the city of North Liberty.
- DECISION (8/17/20): $1,056 was approved by the Board to pay towards the City of North Liberty debt. Debt paid in full.
- DECISION (8/17/20): $285 was approved by the Board to pay towards the Clippers Club 7U 2019 debt. Debt paid in full.
- DECISION (8/17/20): $620 was approved by the Board to pay towards the Clippers Club 8U 2019 debt.
- DECISION (8/17/20): $1,696 was approved by the Board to pay towards the Clippers Club 11U 2019 debt.
- Outstanding Action Items:
- ACTION ITEM (8/17/20): Jeremiah and Sara Herdliska will organize the Clippers Baseball Club garage sale.
