CLIPPERS BASEBALL CLUB BOARD MEETING

Opening: Clippers Baseball Club Board Meeting was held Monday, February 8, 2021 remotely at 6:00pm.

Board Members Present: Nick Pfeiffer (President), Kelly Weber (Treasurer), Matt Carlson (Secretary), Bridgette Schares, Ethan Smith, Julie Vance, Katie Piper, Cori Charbon, Darla Iburg

  1. Open Discussion from Membership:
    • No update.
  2. Update on Outstanding Action Items:
    • Bridgette Schares will approach Scratch Cupcakes for a cupcake fundraising sale.
      • Update: Bridgette Schares scheduled the Scratch Cupcakes fundraiser for June 2021.
      • Update: Scratch Cupcakes will be mailing a packet of information to Bridgette as we get closer to the June fundraising date.
    • Ethan Smith will reach out to Carpenters Union Local 308 for availability of grilling and concession support for the Clipper Classic.
  3. Formalize Club COVID-19 Quarantine Policy:
    • The Club wants to establish a consistent COVID-19 quarantine policy, so it does not vary from team to team.
    • The Club discussed whether to align its quarantine policy to that of the CDC, or the Clear Creek Amana Community School District.
    • DECISION: The Clippers Baseball Club will align its COVID-19 quarantine policy guidelines with that of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District.
  4. Spring Apparel:
    • There were several issues with the apparel vendor this year, and there was a discussion about exploring other vendors for next season.
    • The Club decided to remain with our current vendor, who generously wrote off $500 of the club’s debt within the last year.
    • Kelly Weber, Darla Iburg and Cori Charbon expressed interest in organizing an Apparel Committee for next year to streamline the uniform fitting/ordering process.
  5. 2021 Registration and Team Updates:
    • There is 1 outstanding player on 10U White who has not paid final registration dues.
    • All Club teams have registered on the USSSA site except 7U.
  6. Clipper Classic Update:
    • 7U and 8U teams will have one-day tournaments.
    • To date 7 teams (not including Clipper teams) have registered for the Clipper Classic.
    • In the past the Optimist Club was hired to run the concession stand in North Liberty, and profits were shared with them. Ethan Smith will reach out to Carpenters Union Local 308 for grilling and concession support in the absence of Optimist Club this year.
    • ACTION ITEM: Ethan Smith will reach out to Carpenters Union Local 308 for availability of grilling and concession support for the Clipper Classic.
  7. Treasurer’s Report:
    • The latest monthly Clippers Baseball Club checking account statement from 1/29 has a balance of $16,493.89.
  8. Sponsorships:
    • No update.
  9. Fundraising:
    • Many Club teams voluntarily organized successful Super Bowl square fundraisers.
  10. Decisions:
    • DECISION (10/14/19): The CCASD, insurance dues, and mound rental fees are the top debt priorities: $500 owed to CCASD, $793.10 owed for insurance dues, and $500 owed for mound rental fees.
    • DECISION (10/14/19): There is $479 left after CCASD, insurance dues, and mound rental fees are paid.Of the remaining funds raised $100 will go to Tiffin Parks & Rec, and $350 will go to North Liberty Parks & Rec.
    • DECISION (11/11/19): The Clippers Club Board voted in favor of making the Clipper Classic a one-day USSSA sanctioned tournament.
    • DECISION (12/9/19): $621.72 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $300 to the City of North Liberty, and $300 to the City of Tiffin.
    • DECISION (2/10/20): $899.23 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $450 to the City of North Liberty, and $450 to the City of Tiffin.
    • DECISION (3/9/20): $705.54 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $610 to the City of Tiffin, and $100 (rounded up) to the City of North Liberty.
    • DECISION (4/13/20): The Clippers Baseball Club Board will split the $1,000 grant money evenly among the 6 club teams. Each team may be reimbursed up to $166.67 for equipment purchased between 1/1/20 – 5/31/20.
    • DECISION (4/13/20): $187.23 has been raised to repay debts. The club will pay $180 (rounded down) to city of North Liberty.
    • DECISION (6/8/20): $674.25 has been raised to repay debts ($675 rounded up). The club will pay $500 to the Clippers Baseball Club Scholarship debt and $175 to the city of North Liberty.
    • DECISION (8/17/20): $1,056 was approved by the Board to pay towards the City of North Liberty debt. Debt paid in full.
    • DECISION (8/17/20): $285 was approved by the Board to pay towards the Clippers Club 7U 2019 debt. Debt paid in full.
    • DECISION (8/17/20): $620 was approved by the Board to pay towards the Clippers Club 8U 2019 debt.
    • DECISION (8/17/20): $1,696 was approved by the Board to pay towards the Clippers Club 11U 2019 debt.
    • DECISION (2/8/21): The Clippers Baseball Club will align its COVID-19 quarantine policy guidelines with that of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District.
  11. Outstanding Action Items:
    • ACTION ITEM (9/15/20): Bridgette Schares will approach Scratch Cupcakes for a cupcake fundraising sale.
    • ACTION ITEM (2/8/21): Ethan Smith will reach out to Carpenters Union Local 308 for availability of grilling and concession support for the Clipper Classic.
